Ranchi: In a significant operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested Khushbu Lata, the Panchayat Secretary of Ichak, Simaria block in Chatra district, for accepting a bribe of ₹5,000. The action was taken by the Hazaribagh ACB team based on a complaint filed by Sonia Devi.
Sonia informed the ACB that she had received an allocation for the construction of a house under the Abua Awas scheme, and the first installment of ₹30,000 was credited to her account. Subsequently, Panchayat Secretary Khushbu Lata visited her house and demanded ₹5,000 from the received amount. Khushbu also mentioned that for the remaining installments, a commission would need to be paid, with her total commission per house being ₹30,000. She threatened to cancel the allocated funds if her demand was not met. Following this, Sonia lodged a complaint with the ACB.
After verifying the complaint and confirming the demand for the bribe, the ACB set up a trap and caught Khushbu Lata red-handed while accepting the bribe.
