Dhanbad, Feb 1: Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) Dhanbad today arrested the head clerk of electric supply division Dhanbad of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) while taking a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a lineman for clearing the file of increment.
ACB deputy superintendent Nitin Khandewal said that a junior electric line man posted in Kendua area, Ignosis Marandi, lodged a complaint that the head clerk of Electric Supply Division office Shiv Kumar Mehthi had been demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 for clearing his increment file.
“ACB verified the allegation and laid a trap to arrest the head clerk on February 1 (Tuesday),” said ACB deputy superintendent.
As per deal, Ignosis Marandi agreed to pay Rs 2,000 out of Rs 5,000 in the first installment to the head.
As Ignosis Marandi today reached the Electric Supply Division office near Dhanbad sadar police station in the morning and gave Rs 2000 to the head clerk, the ACB team members caught him red handed.
Officials said that the ACB team also seized some documents from the office of Shiv Kumar Mehthi. The arrested head clerk is being interrogated and later would be sent to jail.
