Ace spinner of Indian team Shabhaz Nadeem to head Dhanbad selection committee

Dhanbad, Feb 7:  Ace left-arm spinner of Indian Test team Shabhaz Nadeem has been made chairman of Dhanbad men’s cricket team’s selection committee.

At the meeting of the Dhanbad Cricket Association (DCA)  Shabhaz Nadeem was made chairman of men’s selection committee while Milee Dutta, wife of Samiran Dutta, chairman cum managing director Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCl)  would head as chairman of  women’s sub -committee.

Nadeem,  who  has played two Test matches ( Against Africa South in 2019  and England in 2021) is a regular member of the Jharkhand Ranji team and playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Nadeem has a record of highest Ranji wickets in his kitty.

Other members of the selection committee are Manish Bardhan, Sanjiv Gupta, Abhishek  Mointra, and Amit Raj.
DCA president Manoj Kumar Singh said that he has not been playing for Dhanbad for the last four and five years but is involved in planning for the improvement of cricket in the district. “ His selection as chairman of the committee would encourage the players of the district and help in building a strong team. So DCA has one single selection committee under Nadeem for all age group teams,” said president Singh.

Arvind Mahta, Bala Shankar Jha, Tapas Sarkar, Anpurna Singh and Nobal Kishore Singh have been nominated as members of the Women’s selection committee.

DCA  secretary Vinay Singh said Milee Dutta would head the women’s subcommittee of the association. Delhi Public School (DPS) principal Sarita  Sinha, Dipali Ray, Supriya, Poonam Sharma, Annapurna Singh, Bindoo Singh are members of the committee.

The DCA president said as per the suggestion of Nadeem focus has been given to the preparation of the under-14 team. Besides it,  the association has made a panel of 24 players in each age group team for state champion that could be held on short notice.
