Daltonganj, Jan 5: Additional Chief Secretary (health) Arun Kumar Singh is quite miffed at the slow pace of vaccination of teens in Palamu in the last two days.
A little over 2,500 vaccines were given in the last two days beginning January 3. The district poised to vaccinate more than 1,41,000 eligible teens here is losing ground and battle both on the front of vaccinating the eligible teens.
The ACS has taken a serious note of the nonperformance of teens’ vaccination in Palamu.
Speaking to lagatar24.com today, he said, “I have told DC Palamu to act and update me over this issue.”
He said that he believes things would improve but this kind of decline in vaccination of teens was not expected from districts like Palamu.
Many civil society activists have urged the state health department to shuffle the non performing medical officers in charge of the community health centres that are running it like their personal fiefdom.
A doctor requesting anonymity said there are a few medical officers in charge of the community health centres who defy the order or directive of the civil surgeon saying they have right connections at right places in the corridor of the state health department and so such orders or directives hardly matter to them.
