Ranchi, 14 July: Adil Ansari, a resident of the slum area behind Harmu Housing Colony and JEE student who achieved 99.6 percentile, received a unique honour this morning when local councillor Arun Kumar Jha and his supervisor Samud Ahmed arrived at his home bearing a pen and a shawl to recognise his achievement against the odds.
“I’m proud that there are talented people in the slums of my district. Local councillor Arun Kumar Jha congratulated the youngster at his home in the slum known as Azad Hind Nagar and stated, “By honouring I feel myself honoured.”
Adil attended Crown Public School through the fifth grade before transferring to Vivekanand Vidya Mandir in Dhurwa. His mother Sabina Khatoon works at home, while his father Allauddin Ansari is a small-time contractor. Due to poverty and poor direction, kids in the neighbourhood where he lives rarely pay attention to adequate education in the area next to the Harmu River.
Adil depended mostly on YouTube and apps for his preparation after he realized that a coaching institute is only a class after school class where students are expected to come on a specific time and have the option to prepare a study plan according to this time, interest and convenience. Apart from this, he also realized that in coaching institutes students have no option to switch over to another teacher in case he is not satisfied with his teaching.
“I exercised caution while choosing YouTube channels and apps, and I always kept my parents’ modest income in mind to prevent money from being wasted on schooling. In contrast to traditional coaching classes, selective listening is an option while listening to lectures on apps. It saves valuable time, which is essential for preparation, according to Adil, whose younger brother Akib Ansari attends the same school as a class X student and whose sister Khadiza Tarannum is also studying for a medical school.
Adil is currently getting ready for his second try to raise his percentile in order to secure admission to a better institution for technical education. A resident of the area claimed that Adil has become a goal for the neighbourhood lads, who prefer riding their speedy bikes to attending school.
“A vehicle accident recently claimed the life of one local kid and injured two others. They were riding a bike at a high speed when they crashed while en route to Patratu Dam. The incident shook the neighbourhood. Many young people have been inspired by hearing about Adil’s achievement and have begun considering doing something different as a result. Let’s wait and see how long it lasts, a local stated.
