Jamshedpur, Oct 4: About 200 residents of Adityapur Bustee on Wednesday demonstrated at the Adityapur Thana demanding the arrest of one Sanjay Lal.

The Adityapur Bustee residents’ anger erupted against Sanjay Lal as the latter has recently sold out his house and landed property to a resident of adjoining Adityapur Muslim Bustee clandestinely something they are vehemently opposed to.

“Sanjay Lal has left Adityapur having sold out his house and landed property to a person belonging to minority community. We had earlier decided not to allow any minority community family in our locality but despite the unanimous resolution, Sanjay Lal has betrayed us. Now it is up to the police to nab Sanjay Lal and vacate the family in question from our locality, ” said one of the protestors while talking to lagatar24.com.

On being asked, the protestor said that they are simply opposed to any minority community family in Adityapur Bustee as they do not want to convert it into another Kapali Bustee where criminal activities run unabatedly and women, as well as girls, are not at all safe.

“Today one Sanjay Lal has disposed off his landed property to an undesirable person, tomorrow some other resident will sell out his house to the person belonging to the same community. And gradually we will have to live in our own locality in fear,” the protestor pointed out.

The protestors including a large number of women were holding placards and banners while demonstrating in front of the police station. They had declared that they would not disperse until Sanjay Lal is taken into custody and the family in question is not evacuated from the Adityapur Bustee.

For the police, the situation was tough to handle as it was a sensitive issue.

OC, Adityapur Thana, Rajan Kumar listened to the protestors patiently and assured them that he would find Sanjay Lal and make him ensure the removal of the family from the Adityapur Bustee.

The protestors returned back to their homes but with the warning that they would next time stage a gherao of the Adityapur Thana if the police fail to remove the uninvited family from the Adityapur Bustee.

It may be mentioned here that anti-social activities like peddling brown sugar and group clashes between arms traffickers are a regular phenomenon at the Adityapur Muslim Bustee with the police doing little to curb them all.
