Jamshedpur, Dec 23: A team of Seraikela-Kharsawan district police on Friday arrested three persons for allegedly indulging in the murder of Sabir Ansari at Adityapur on November 6.
Those arrested were identified as Saddam Khan (28) and Kalim Khan (40), both residents of Adityapur Muslim Bustee and Mohammad Samim (46), a resident of Azadnagar in Mango.
All three were arrested from the Egra thana area in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district where they were hiding after murdering Sabir Ansari.
While making the arrests, the police seized a 7.65 mm pistol, ammunition, over 60 grams of brown sugar and a without-number plate car from the possession of the accused.
Seraikela-Kharsawan district SP, Anand Prakash while addressing a press conference this afternoon said the arrest of the drug racketeers is a big achievement for not only the Seraikela-Kharsawan district but also for the steel city.
“Saddam Khan who is a dreaded criminal used to supply the brown sugar from West Bengal’s 24 Paragana and East Midnapore districts to Adityapur and the steel city. During interrogation, Saddam and two others have divulged information about the supply chain and also confessed to have murdered Sabir Ansari in the rivalry of drugs supply,” said Anand Prakash while talking to the media.
The SP pointed out they will try to find out the main source of brown sugar supply to West Bengal’s district so that the supply chain could be destroyed.
A resident of Adityapur Muslim Bustee, Sabir was shot dead near Nepal Hotel on the night of November 6. Police had already arrested one of the accused Kadim Khan in connection to the murder following an FIR lodged by the murder victim’s widow.
