Ranchi, Dec.30: The district administration has intensified its preparedness to handle the third wave of Covid-19 with the report of the death of a 60-yr-old lady from Namkum due to Covid-19 with the ailment in her heart at Raj Hospital and novel coronavirus infection to an orthopaedic at Sadar hospital.

The fourth floor of Sadar Hospital has been readied with 220 oxygen beds and ICU while deputy commissioner Chhavi Ranjan did a marathon meeting taking preparedness to handle the third wave of the pandemic effectively.

DC Ranjan while chairing the District Covid Task Force warned doctors against any excuses to evade from duty given to them in the wake of the third wave of Covid-19 amid detection of more infectious omicron variants in many parts of the country.

“Take action against the doctors giving excuses to keep themselves away from the duty exercising your power under provisions of Disaster Management Act,” DC Ranjan said directing the civil surgeon (CS) to take action against evasive doctors.

The DC apart from taking action against the evasive doctors also asked committed doctors to play their pro-active role in the same way they played during the two waves of Covid-19 and saved many lives.

The district transport officer was present during their meeting. DC Ranjan asked him to ensure covid-19 appropriate behaviour in public transports and take action under the provisions of law against those not following Covid-19 protocol.

DC Ranjan asked civil surgeons to ensure the purchase of sanitizer, masks and other necessary kits required during the war against the pandemic after proper assessment of requirement.

Giving direction for proper testing and tracing, DC Ranjan asked to keep the proper address of those giving their sample for testing to ensure proper help to them in case of need. He also asked Sadar Hospital in Ranchi and Bundu to get ready. Apart from this, he also asked to keep Risaldar Baba Urban Community Health Centre ready to take care of Covid patients.

Regarding vaccination, the DC asked to start vaccination of children of age group 15 to 18 from January 3 and booster dose to above-60 residents from January 10. He directed a school-wise cluster and made an appeal with parents to co-operate.
