Bhilwara, May 5: Following a violent incident in the city’s Sanganer area on Wednesday night, internet connections in Bhilwara were banned for 24 hours on Thursday, according to district collector Ashish Modi.
According to news agency ANI, citing the district collector, at least two people were attacked while eating by unknown attackers.
“Their bike was also set ablaze. We are investigating the matter,” he said.
It’s still unclear whether this was a case of communal violence. Several cases of religious conflicts have been recorded across India in recent weeks, particularly in Rajasthan. On Eid, clashes erupted in Jodhpur, prompting the district’s officials to impose a curfew and shut down the internet.
Several portions of town were placed under curfew until Wednesday, and mobile internet access was still unavailable, according to authorities. In connection with the Eid violence in Jodhpur, Rajasthan police have arrested nearly 100 people. The BJP, according to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, is to accountable for the violence.
Following incidences of stone pelting during a religious procession in Rajasthan’s Karauli district, section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was applied last month. The fights reportedly injured 35 people, one of whom was critically injured.
