New Delhi, Nov 3: There will be difficult times for Twitter’s staff now that Elon Musk is in charge. There have been rumours that Musk may lay off employees once he assumes control of the company since the news of his acquisition of Twitter first broke. The same is reiterated in a recent Bloomberg piece.

According to the most recent report, Musk intends to eliminate half of the Twitter workforce. According to the source, the Twitter CEO will eliminate close to 3700 positions. According to reports, affected staff will be informed by this week’s end. Notably, neither Musk nor the microblogging service have officially announced any layoffs.

Notably, shortly after Musk was named the new CEO of Twitter, he refuted reports of layoffs.

Well, despite Musk’s denial of Twitter layoffs, a number of top executives as well as nearly the whole board have left the company. Following Musk’s takeover last week, former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and the head of law and policy Vijaya Gadde were among the first to be removed. These two former Twitter execs have deleted the statement “working at Twitter” from their Twitter bios.

In addition to the layoffs, the Bloomberg story emphasised Musk’s plans to change Twitter’s current work-from-anywhere policy. Musk is anticipated to invite Twitter employees to come back to work, just like he did at Tesla. Recall that a few months ago, Musk told Telsa workers they could either quit their jobs or come back to the workplace.

Musk recently disclosed on Twitter that blue tick would cost $8 per month (about Rs 660). He hasn’t specified when the subscription plan would be on sale or which services will be included in it. In order to turn Twitter into a profitable business, Musk intends to transition away from the ad business and toward a membership model.
