Daltonganj, Nov 3: The General Manager of East Central Railway Hajipur in Bihar has been asked to submit a report on the third railway line that will pass through the Palamu Tiger Reserve.
A letter to this effect has been written to the GM ECR Hajipur by the director of Gati Shakti Civil III Railway Board Delhi Mohit Kumar.
The third railway line is being laid between Patratu and Sonnagar railway stations through the 12 km stretch of the core area of PTR and forest clearance is awaited for the last 4 years.
The railway board has now decided to get this issue settled as forest clearance of this project has got delayed already by 15 months and there is a cost overrun of more than Rs 1000 crore, a fact revealed by the special secretary of the logistics ministry of commerce and industry department for the promotion of industry and internal trade IAS Amrit Lal Meena.
The PTR wants realignment of all the existing tracks and also the third track between Hehegara and Chhipadohar railway stations in the core area of PTR.
The railway on the other hand sticks to lay its third line just by the side of its already existing two railway tracks. This is the real impasse arising out of the two diametrically opposite stands of the two stakeholders in this matter, said one railway official.
Now it looks like the railway board is sincere to find a solution to it, said PTR sources.
