New Delhi, May 10: In Delhi’s New Friends Colony and Mangolpuri, a demolition drive to remove unauthorised constructions is underway amid tight security on Tuesday. A day after the demolition effort in Shaheen Bagh, bulldozers rolled into these sites with a significant police presence.

Meanwhile, police in Mangolpuri have apprehended AAP MLA Mukesh Ahlawat for allegedly impeding the demolition drive.
“Situation is completely in control. People are cooperating,” said Delhi DCP Sameer Sharma on the anti-encroachment drive in New Friends Colony.
“The anti-encroachment drive is going on, local MLA (AAP MLA Mukesh Ahlawat) came here and asked what was the need to use JCBs. To prevent the drive from being getting jeopardised, we detained the MLA,” he added.
Notably on Monday, bulldozers arrived in Shaheen Bagh as the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) continued its anti-encroachment campaign in the area that was the epicentre of the anti-CAA protests a few years ago.
Following a dharna and sloganeering by locals and activists from the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, SDMC officials involved in the demolition campaign returned with bulldozers but did not carry out the destruction.
