New Delhi, July 6: Rajasthan revenue minister, Ramlal Jat made a controversial statement about the Agnipath scheme. According to the minister, the Agnipath scheme will lead to ‘trained terrorism’ throughout the nation.

“When MPs and MLAs can get a pension only after working on the post for one year, then why not a pension for Agniveers? Youths will be worried about their future when they will be unemployed after working for three to four years under the Agniveer scheme,” Minister Ramlal Jat said to the reporters.

The minister from Rajasthan went on to say that the federal government should consider the future of young people.

A new short-term recruitment policy for Indian youth to join the armed forces was launched by the Center on June 14. The programme, known as Agnipath, will allow young people between the ages of 17.5 and 21 to join any of the three services as ‘agniveers’ for a four-year period.

According to the Indian Army, ‘Agniveers’ will constitute a new rank that will be distinct from all other ranks and be able to be posted to any regiment and unit.
