Ahead of PM Modi, PM Morrison’s bilateral meet, Australia repatriates 29 Indian artefacts

New Delhi, March 21: Australia returned twenty-nine antiques to India ahead of a virtual meeting between Prime Minister Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison on Monday.

PM Modi examined the antiquities, which are divided into six categories: Shiva and his disciples, worshipping Shakti, Lord Vishnu and his forms, Jain tradition, portraits and decorative objects. The objects originate in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal, and are primarily sculptures and paintings. They date from the 9th to 10th centuries CE, with the earliest dated from the 9th to 10th centuries CE.

PM Modi inspects the 29 antiquities which have been repatriated to India by Australia. The antiquities range in 6 broad categories as per themes – Shiva and his disciples, Worshipping Shakti, Lord Vishnu and his forms, Jain tradition, portraits & decorative objects

Australia will announce investments worth Rs 1,500 crore in India during a virtual bilateral summit set for 12.30 pm IST.

Investments will be made in a variety of industries, including technology and key minerals. This will be Australia’s greatest investment in India.

The virtual meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Australian Prime Minister Morrison on Monday is the second of its kind. The first, on June 4, 2020, marked the formalisation of the two countries’ connection as a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.’
