New Delhi, Dec 18: In connection with the cyber attack on the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Delhi Police has written to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and asked Interpol for information on Chinese hackers. The primary point of interaction with Interpol is the CBI.
According to reports, the cybercriminals who allegedly compromised the data of a number of patients by hacking AIIMS’ digital systems also requested an estimated Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrencies. The outpatient department (OPD) and sample collection services were affected by multiple days of server downtime at the top institution in the nation.
Delhi Police questioned whether a business or a person was using these IP addresses in a letter to the central organisation. Additionally, information on the business that provides internet service in China was requested.
“Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) of Delhi Police writes to CBI asking them to get details from Interpol about IP addresses of the email IDs from Henan in China& Hong Kong that were used to launch the cyber attack. Since CBI is the nodal agency, a letter written to them,” said Delhi Police in a statement.

According to the advice of the investigating agencies, internet services at AIIMS were also disabled, according to news agency PTI. On November 25, the IFSO unit of the Delhi Police filed a case of extortion and cyber terrorism in connection with the ransomware attack.
Later, it became clear that a cyberattack on the servers of the AIIMS in Delhi may have come from China or Hong Kong, according to high government sources.
