New Delhi, Jan 31: Shankar Mishra, who is accused of peeing on his fellow passenger on an Air India trip between New York and Delhi last year, has been granted bail by a Delhi court. Additional Sessions Judge Harjyot Singh Bhalla granted bail to Mishra on a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh.
The judge had previously dismissed Mishra’s request for bail, describing the incident as ‘utterly disgusting and repulsive, shocked the civic consciousness, and needed to be deprecated.’
Mishra is accused of peeing on a senior citizen aboard an Air India trip from New York to Delhi on November 26. After a Look Out Circular was issued in this regard, he was arrested in Bengaluru. Since the situation was discovered and the impacted party took action, he has been eluding capture.
The woman withdrew her complaint and even called attention to the airline’s inactivity. In response to the ‘urination’ incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) demanded an explanation from Tata Group-owned Air India and criticised their ‘unprofessional’ handling of the situation.
