Dhanbad, Sept 11: The Anusuchit Jati Evam Anusuchit Janjati Employees Association (AJAJEA) has expressed resentment over the delay in starting the process for promotion of the scheduled caste officers at the state as well as district level.
The AJAJEA has charged that despite the state government withdrawing the ban on the promotion of senior AJAJ officers in June 2023, the concerned officers at the state headquarters as well as in districts have not started it so far even after three months.
On June 3, 2023, the Principal Secretary of the state government’s Personnel and Administrative Reform Department Vandana Dadel directed (letter no 3463) to all Additional Chief Secretaries (ACS), Principal Secretaries of different departments, Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of all 24 districts to initiate action for giving promotion on the basis of seniority to the AJAJ officers.
“We were waiting that the officers concerned would start the process for implementation of promotion but neither any move has been made at the state headquarters level nor at the district level so far even after the state government gave the green signal. The AJAJEA has served a notice either to start the process for promotion or face the state-wide agitation,” said Dr RN Choudhary, president of AJAJEA Dhanbad district.
The state government stopped the promotion process of the AJAJ senior officers on December 24, 2020, after getting complaints that general category employees were given promotions in place of AJAJ candidates.
The state government’s ban on the promotion of AJAJ officers was challenged in the Jharkhand High Court. The High Court nullified the ban order of the government on January 13, 2022. In the wake of the High Court decision the state government issued a notification on June 3, 2023.
