AJSU leader Kamal Kishore Bhagat cremated with state honours; wife regains sense

Ranchi, Dec.18: The last rite of former two terms Lohardaga MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat was performed at his village, Jhingi, about 5km from Kuru in Lohardaga district.

Those present during his last rite included Ajsu party chief Sudesh Mahto besides legislators from his party Lambodar Mahto, Mamta Devi (Congress), Ramchandra Sahis besides Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal and former Lohardaga MLA Sukhdeo Bhagat.

Before the last rite was performed, a medical team conducted an autopsy of his body to ascertain the reason behind his death. The report is yet to come.

 

His wife Neeru Shanti Bhagat, who was admitted to  Medanta, Ranchi, has regained sense but she does not know her husband is no more.

“I noticed her laughing in the morning unaware of her husband’s death. She is alright now and did not have any major health issue,” said the medical superintendent of the hospital without elaborating the details.

In the meantime, police continued their investigation.

“A team has reached Lohardaga to collect materials from the place of death of Bhagat for forensic examination and materials are being collected,” a locality resident said. Superintendent of the police of the district, Priyanka Meena, did not take the call to share any development in the case when attempted thrice between 2.03pm to 2.18pm.
