Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, with AJSU (All Jharkhand Students Union) contesting 10 seats, JDU (Janata Dal United) two, and LJP(R) one. BJP will field candidates on the remaining seats, ensuring a strong National Democratic Alliance (NDA) collaboration. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the BJP state office, attended by Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand election co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and other senior party leaders, including Babulal Marandi and AJSU chief Sudesh Mahto.
During the press conference, Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, NDA aims to bring development and governance back to Jharkhand. He criticized the current government, saying it has led the state down the path of ruin.
Seat Allocation Details:
- AJSU will contest from 10 seats: Silli, Ramgarh, Gomia, Ichagarh, Mandu, Jugsalai, Dumri, Pakur, Lohardaga, and Manoharpur.
- JDU will field candidates in Tamad and Jamshedpur West.
- LJP(R) will contest from Chatra.
The BJP will announce its candidates for the remaining seats. Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that discussions on seat allocation are ongoing, and adjustments may be made as the election approaches.
Regional and National Issues Together: AJSU chief Sudesh Mahto highlighted the importance of addressing both regional and national concerns to ensure the development of Jharkhand. He emphasized the need for a new mandate and criticized the Hemant Soren-led government for failing the state’s people. Mahto affirmed that the NDA’s focus would be on governance and development, promising a strong coalition victory.
Criticism of the Hemant Soren Government: Babulal Marandi lambasted the current Jharkhand government, accusing it of deceiving the people over the past five years. He claimed that Chief Minister Hemant Soren had failed to deliver on promises, including job creation and unemployment benefits. Marandi also pointed to rising crime rates, particularly against women, and the illegal sale of tribal lands as major failures of the current administration.
Marandi further warned that Jharkhand’s demographics have shifted, particularly in Santhal, where the tribal population has significantly declined. He accused the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) of exploiting vote-bank politics and assured that the NDA would address these issues in the upcoming election.
The BJP is expected to release its first list of candidates soon, as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
