Lucknow, March 22: After winning the Karhal assembly constituency in the Uttar Pradesh state elections, Akhilesh Yadav resigned as a Lok Sabha MP. This was the 48-year-old former Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s first assembly election. He was a member of the Lok Sabha from Azamgarh.
Akhilesh Yadav is anticipated to take over as the leader of the opposition in the Uttar Pradesh state assembly as a result of this. On Tuesday afternoon, he was photographed handing out his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Prakash Birla.
In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party chief has been the BJP’s main rival. His party got 111 of the 403 assembly seats, while the BJP and its allies won 273 of them. However, a day after the critical state’s results were announced, he claimed that his party’s performance had demonstrated that the BJP’s seats could be decreased. The BJP and its allies won 325 seats in 2017.
