Jamshedpur, March 26: The swine flu virus and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) is once again threatening steel city residents.

The East Singhbhum health department issued an alert following the detection of two suspected cases of swine flu and one case of JE from various parts of Steel City on Friday.

The suspected cases of swine flu were detected from Mango and Kadma while the JE suspected patient had come from Purulia.

All suspected patients are undergoing treatment at the Tata Main Hospital.

The district surveillance team has sent swabs and blood samples of these suspected cases to the microbiology department of MGM Medical College and Hospital.

District surveillance officer Sahir Pal has directed all private/government hospitals and nursing homes to come up with isolation wards for treatment of confirmed cases.

Pal said they are keeping a strict vigil on the situation.
