Ramgarh, June 23: All India FIDE Rating Open Chess began at the Multipurpose Examination Hall of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh on Thursday.
The competition was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Dr Mukul Narayan Dev, District cum State Vice President of Chess Association Vijay Kumar Singh, environmentalist Surendra Prasad Singh, social worker Ram Pravesh Sharma and Surendra Kumar Singh by lighting the lamp.
Under the leadership of working president Richa Sanjita, international player Subrajit Saha, chief arbiter Deepak Kumar, besides district president Vijay Kumar Singh, 210 national and state-level players from across the country are participating in the competition.
Vijay Kumar Singh said, “National and international players of chess from all over the country are participating in this event. Online registration has been done. 51 winners will be awarded in the open competition. The winners will get a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh.”
Vice-Chancellor Dr MN Dev said, “Chess is the gift of India to the whole world. This is not only a game but a brain exercise. India is the land of knowledge and attachment.”
State Vice President cum District President Vijay Kumar Singh said that Chess is the only game in which it does not kill its loved ones. Hazaribagh is being known throughout the country, from here also the Grand Master of Chess will emerge.
Organizing Secretary Manmeet Akela said that for the next four days, we are all going to move ahead with the same topic in one place.
