New Delhi, March 28: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Monday moves Supreme Court against Karnataka High Court order which dismissed pleas against the ban on hijab in educational institutes. The Board has petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn a Karnataka High Court decision.
Notably, the Karnataka High Court ruled on Tuesday that wearing a hijab (a headscarf worn by Muslim women) is not an essential practice in Islam, dismissing several petitions contesting a ban on hijabs at educational institutions. The decision puts an end to a months-long debate in Karnataka, where students staged protests because they were not allowed to wear hijabs in educational institutions
