Kabul, Oct 11: The US and Britain have warned their citizens in Afghanistan to avoid going to hotels. They have warned their citizens against staying in Kabul hotels, especially the Serena Hotel, due to increased security risks. On October 8, more than 100 people were killed in a deadly attack on a mosque in Afghanistan. ISIS took responsibility for this. After this, now there is a possibility of targeting the hotels here.

“Because of security threats at the Serena hotel, we advise US citizens to avoid travelling to the hotel and the surrounding vicinity,” the US Embassy in Afghanistan said.

The US State Department said that any citizens who have stayed in or near the Serena Hotel should leave immediately. There could be a safety hazard here. Britain’s Commonwealth and Development Office also said people were being advised not to stay in hotels because of the threat of attacks in Afghanistan.

Notably, Kabul’s Serena Hotel is a luxury hotel, where tourists and foreign guests come and stay. The hotel has been the target of Taliban attacks twice in the past. Many foreigners have left Afghanistan after the Taliban took over Afghanistan, but some journalists and aides stayed in Kabul.

In the past two days, there was a one-on-one meeting between the Taliban and the US representatives in Doha, the capital of Qatar. It was the first face-to-face meeting since US troops left Afghanistan. There was talk of security issues. America expressed its concern about terrorism and there was talk of giving safe passage for American citizens and other foreign nationals to leave the country.
