Amritsar, May 8: In Punjab’s Amritsar, a blast occurred on Heritage Street on Monday morning, close to the Golden Temple, the exact location of the explosion on May 6. One person was hurt in the blast, according to police.

Police stated they are “verifying” the incident’s cause, although the reason of the explosion has not yet been determined.

“We are verifying. The situation is normal here. Anti-sabotage, Bomb Squad, and FSL teams are here,” said Amritsar Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mehtab Singh.

He added that one individual had suffered a minor leg injury and that the blast had broken the glass on the front of some surrounding buildings.

“After the clarification, we can tell how it happened. The investigation is going on by our teams,” he added.

A sweeper who was present on the spot during the incident said, “I am a sweeper here and was doing my duty when I heard a big blast sound and saw heavy smoke.”

The police said, there was an explosion at the same Heritage Street near the Golden Temple on May 6, Saturday night about 11:15 pm, in which one person was hurt.

Both the blast on Saturday and the one today, according to Amritsar ADCP Mehtab Singh, were of low intensity.
