New Delhi, Jan 12: As per the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) latest forecast, the northern and central parts of India will experience cold wave conditions from January 14.
Severe cold wave conditions are to be observed over parts of Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan on January 15 and January 16. The cold wave will also follow a slight rise in temperatures in many parts of Northwest India.
“The rise in minimum temperatures by about 2 degrees Celsius very is likely over many parts of Northwest India by January 12 morning; no significant change by January 13 and gradual fall by 3-5 degrees Celsius during January 14-16,” said IMD.

The traffic in NCR could again be disrupted by a dense blanket of fog enveloped on Thursday morning also reducing visibility to 50 meters. As per information, a dense to very dense fog in isolated pockets during the night and morning hours over Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab from January 14 to 16.

“Dense fog is very likely in isolated pockets during the night and morning hours over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, West Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Dense fog very likely to continue in isolated pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya and Tripura during next 48 hours,” said IMD.
Delhi witnessed severe cold wave from January 5 to January 9, which is the second longest period in the month in a decade, according to meteorological department data. A senior IMD official said that more than 50 hours of dense fog have been recorded so far this month, which is the highest since 2019.
