Mumbai: In a bizarre turn of events, veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher found himself in an unusual situation when counterfeit ₹500 notes featuring his image, instead of Mahatma Gandhi’s, surfaced in Gujarat. The fake currency, totaling ₹1.6 crore, was used to dupe an Ahmedabad bullion trader.

Fake Notes Feature Anupam Kher’s Picture

The incident came to light when two unidentified men passed off the fake notes to the trader, shocking many with the image of Anupam Kher replacing Gandhi on the currency. The counterfeit notes also had “Resole Bank of India” printed on them instead of “Reserve Bank of India.” Images of the fake notes quickly went viral on social media, sparking a mix of disbelief and amusement.

Anupam Kher Reacts Amused

Taking the incident in stride, Anupam Kher shared his amusement with his followers on Instagram. Posting a news clip of the fake currency bust, the actor captioned it humorously, “My photo instead of Gandhi’s photo on the note of five hundred???? Anything can happen.”

Anupam Kher’s Illustrious Career

Anupam Kher, who debuted in Mahesh Bhatt’s Saaransh, is widely regarded as one of Indian cinema’s most versatile actors. With numerous accolades to his name, including two National Film Awards, Kher has portrayed a diverse range of characters throughout his career. He has been honored with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to Indian cinema and the arts.

Upcoming Projects

On the professional front, Anupam Kher is set to appear in Emergency, a political drama directed by Kangana Ranaut, based on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, however, has been delayed multiple times due to controversies surrounding its censor certification.
