Ranchi, Aug 20: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda on Saturday launched the second phase of the Rural Entrepreneur Project (Grameen Udyami) in the state capital to promote skill development and entrepreneurship among the tribal youth.

“The path to self-reliant India will pass through self-reliant villages, self-reliant towns and self-reliant districts… The Rural Entrepreneur Project will prove to be a game changer for the tribal communities of Jharkhand,” Arjun Munda said at the launch.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in partnership with Sewa Bharti and Yuva Vikas Society will carry out the training program among the tribal communities for their inclusive, sustainable development and to enable them for livelihood.

In the first phase of the training, candidates were mobilized from rural and tribal areas of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized on inclusion of tribals in the workforce to ensure their holistic development and inclusion in respective geographical areas. Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar virtually addressed the dignitaries and Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Welfare Bishweswar Tudu motivated the audience with his speech.

Grameen Udyami is a unique multi-skilling project, funded by NSDC, which aims to train 450 tribal students in Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. It is being implemented in six states Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Gujarat. The concept was crystallized by Chandrasekhar and tribal parliamentarians.

“Our entire focus is on strengthening sustainable livelihoods for the tribals. The Central government has approved a budget of Rs 85,000 crores for the tribal areas. I am sure that the Rural Entrepreneur Project will prove to be a game changer,” Munda said.

Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “We recently celebrated Amrit Mahotsav of independence to honor India’s rich past and dedicated ourselves to Amrit Kaal with a vision of New India.

“Our Prime Minister has emphasized that the path to self-reliant India will pass through self-reliant villages, self-reliant towns and self-reliant districts. So, our tribal communities play an important role in our efforts to accelerate India’s economic development. I hope that the success achieved by the project in Madhya Pradesh will get the same response in Jharkhand as skilling is the passport to prosperity of any region.”

Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Welfare Bishweswar Tudu said, “If we invest in the development of villages, then the country can develop. One of its major components is to provide quality education to our tribal communities.”
