Ranchi, Sept.10: A resident of Palamu, Mithilesh Kumar Singh (57),  has filed a PIL demanding CBI probe into the matter of arresting three MLAs of Jharkhand in West Bengal with Rs 49 lakh cash.

The petitioner has made media reports his base for filing the PIL saying the incident has defamed the State.

Giving his justification of his demand for CBI investigation, the petitioner said since names of three states, including Jharkhand, West Bengal and Assam are involved in the case and it seems that it is being done to disturb the present government.

The petitioner pointed out that the entire state is disturbed due to detention of the three MLAs, Irfan Ansari, Naman Bixal Kongari and Rajesh Kachchap, as they are kept in a hotel for the last 15 days in fear of Operation Lotus as published in the national and local dailies.

The PIL mentions the entire episode explaining how the three congress MLAs were arrested travelling on NH-16 at Ranihati in Howrah, West Bengal, on July 29, 2022 and how another Congress Kumar Jai Mangal lodged an FIR against them at the Argora police station on July 31 alleging them of being involved in attempt of toppling the government.

The petitioner has stated that he had earlier requested the union ministry for a CBI probe writing a letter on August 22 and also the court was aware of the political situation or the state where 50 MLAs are running from pillar to post to save the government.
