Daltonganj, Oct.28: A woman drug peddler, Ajanti Devi, who was arrested on Tuesday (Oct.26) and admitted in the isolation ward of Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH), Daltonganj after she was found covid positive, has fled away this morning.
She was caught along with three other men on the charge of possessing and selling 13 grams of heroin by the team of the town police.
All the four arrested people were tested for covid before being sent up to the judicial remand. Ajanti Devi tested covid positive and then was admitted in the isolation ward at Covid care of the MMCH in Daltonganj.
The three other males who had tested negative were remanded in judicial custody the same day of their arrest.
Additional superintendent of police (ASP) cum SDPO Daltonganj, K Vijay Shankar, said that the woman escaped from the isolation ward today morning. A team of police and cops on bikes called Panther are making all efforts to track her.
The Officer-in-charge of the town police station said the drug peddling accused woman went to the roof of the isolation ward and from there she jumped from roof to roof and disappeared.
District Epidemiologist, Dr Anup Kumar Singh, said that the woman had tested Covid positive in the rapid antigen test on October 26 itself. “We got her tested again through the True Nat and this intervening night her True Nat report came and showed that she was Covid negative.”
Civil surgeon Palamu, Anil Kumar, said “It is a great relief that this woman is True Nat Covid negative now, otherwise we would have to locate and trace all such people with whom she had come in contact with her.”
According to sources, Ajanti Devi is a dubious woman. She keeps her address of dwelling changing all the time. So it will be tough to locate her easily.
The accused woman hails from Lesliganj block which is called Nilamber Pitamberpur now, but she doesn’t live there anymore and carries out her drug dealing from some unidentified place in Daltonganj.
