Arun Singh elected CMOA’s new president at BCCL Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Jan 22: Arun Kumar Singh and Nirjhar Chakraborty were elected president and general secretary respectively of Coal Mines Officers Association (CMOA) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) branch of Coal India Limited.

Altogether 1,432 officers of Bharat Coking Coal Limited as well as members of the coal mines officers association had cast their votes in the election.

The counting concluded late at night on Friday at BCCL headquarters Koyla Bhawan. Arun Kumar Singh defeated Kishori Yadav by 283 votes. Singh polled 704 votes while Yadav got 421 votes.

For the post of general secretary Nirjhar Chakraborty  beat  Upendra Kumar Singh by 181 votes. Chakraborty got the highest 431 votes while Upendra Kumar Singh got 250 votes. PK Mishra was polled 220 votes. Fourth candidate in the fray, Tushar Singh got 189 votes.

Chief election officer BB Roy and election officer Arvind Kumar Sinha said that poll was conducted in all 12 colliery areas of BCCL till evening and ballot boxes were brought at the coal company headquarters Koyla Bhawan  for  the counting.

For the two vice-president posts AK Jha ( 648) and  Pramod Kumar ( 486) were declared  winners. Third candidate in the fray  Ajit Singh left in third position.

Satish Kumar Mishra (702) and Surendra Bhushan ( 486) were declared joint secretaries. Two other candidates of the race Dharmendra Tiwari (458) and Sumit Kumar (409) got votes. Alok Kumar Dokania ((740) and SS Jaiswal (688) were elected treasurer and  joint treasurer respectively.

“New body would work for betterment of company, protection as well as  facilities of officers,” said president Singh and general secretary Chakraborty.
