New Delhi, June 6: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, is scheduled to meet with Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, on Wednesday in an effort to enlist his support in opposition to the Center’s Ordinance on control over administrative services in the capital.

The meeting between the national convenors of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Samajwadi Party will take place in Lucknow, according to AAP sources.

On May 23, Kejriwal began a cross-country journey to look for support from opposition parties against the Ordinance.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee, former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin, and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav have all met with the AAP national convenor so far.

On May 19, the Union government introduced an ordinance to establish guidelines for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) about “transfer posting, vigilance, and other incidental matters.”

The Supreme Court’s ruling in the Centre v. Delhi case is disregarded by the ordinance, which was introduced to amend the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991.
