Ranchi, July 12: Dr Vijay Kumar of Sahibganj-based Surya Super Specialty Hospital has said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra turned unwell and was hospitalized in the morning due to severe abdominal pain.
As per summon of the Enforcement Directorate, Pankaj Mishra had to appear before the ED office in Ranchi for his questioning in the money laundering case.
“He is under treatment. He has been given medicines. On an earlier occasion also he had such complaints,” said Dr Vijay Kumar. But he refused to share details of the medicine being given to him, the line of treatment and the diagnosis made so far. He was not in the position to explain whether Pankaj Mishra has exhibited any symptoms of pancreatic infection. Dr Vijay Kumar and Pankaj Mishra are said to be known to each.
On a previous occasion when Pankaj Mishra had fallen ill, Dr Vijay Kumar had provided him en route medical support and Dr Gautam of his hospital had accompanied him to Durgapur hospital in Bengal.
The ED wants to question his alleged involvement in money laundering after the agency carried out raids at his premises in Sahibganj in a tender scam case. Insiders claimed that the ED has got details of money trails suspiciously connected to him besides a huge recovery of cash and bullions have been made. In all probability, the ED wants to question him.
His associate and business partner Vishnu Yadav has been summoned to appear on July 14. Bacchu Yadav, another key associate of Pankaj Mishra, was called for questioning on July 18. Sahibganj-based jeweller Sanjay Diwan has been asked to turn up for questioning on July 13.
During the raid on Friday, the agency seized several documents including partnership deeds among many suspects of money laundering like Krishna Sao, Bhagwan Bhagat, and others. Besides, the ED is said to have recovered many operational official documents from the premises of suspects. These documents are sensitive in nature which a private person in condition can possess or access. It is believed that Pankaj Mishra would be questioned about his associates, business concerns and many other things.
On Friday, the ED raided the premises of Pankaj Mishra and his associates. They include Dahu Yadav, Vishnu Yadav, Sonu Singh, Sunil Yadav, Bacchu Yadav, Raju Bhagat, Patru Singh, Twinkle Bhagat, Krishna Sao, Nimai Seal, Subroto Pal, Bhagwan Bhagat, Kanhaiya Khudania, his uncle Bedu Khudania, Sanjay Diwan and Bhabhesh Bhagat.
