Hangzhou, Sep 25: The men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol team event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday resulted in a bronze medal for India’s rapid-fire pistol shooting trio of Anish, Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh.
The Indian trio was able to win a bronze medal with a score of 1718. China (1765 points) won the gold medal and South Korea (1734 points) took home the silver.
This is India’s fifth shooting medal.
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, a shooter, won a bronze medal earlier in the day in the men’s 10 m air rifle individual final at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
He scored a total of 228.8 points, which put him in third place. Lihao Sheng of China won the gold medal with 253.3 points and Hajun Park of South Korea earned the silver medal with 251.3 points.
In an interesting turn of events, Aishwary defeated Rudrranksh Patil, a fellow countryman, to win bronze. The latter placed fourth with 208.7 points.
This was India’s fourth shooting medal from Hangzhou.
Divyansh Panwar, Rudrankksh Patil and Aishwary Tomar of Team India won gold in the Men’s 10 m Air Rifle Team Shooting event today as well.
Their remarkable score of 1893.7 not only won them first place but also broke China’s previous record, which had been set in August 2023 with 1893.3 points.
With a final score of 1890.1 points, South Korea won the silver medal.
With 1888.2 points, China dropped far behind and took third place.
At the Asian Games in Hangzhou, this was India’s first gold medal.
At the current Asian Games, India has won ten medals total—one gold, three silver and six bronze.
The shooting events at the Asian Games in Hangzhou will take place from September 24 to October 1. At the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre, a total of 33 medal events will be held in the categories of rifle, pistol and shotgun.
Some of the stars of the 33-member Indian delegation include Olympian Manu Bhaker and former world champion Rudrankksh.
