Asian Games: Indian equestrian dressage team bags gold

Hangzhou, Sept 26: In the ongoing 19th Asian Games’ Team Dressage competition, the Indian team of Anush Agarwalla, Hriday Vipul, Divyakriti, and Sudipti Hajela made history on Tuesday by winning a historic gold medal. They did this by scoring a massive 209.205.

India has secured its inaugural gold in this competition at the Asian Games, marking their first gold medal in Equestrian in 41 years.

The Indian Quartet made up of Agarwalla, Chheda, Divyakriti, and Hajela, came through when it counted the most in a contest that lasted almost ten hours and featured a large contingent of athletes from throughout Asia.

Maximum points were earned by Anush Agarwalla and his horse ETRO, who got 71.088, while Hriday Chheda-Emerald earned 69.941. Divyakriti Singh and Adrenalin Firdod achieved a score of 68.176, while Sudipti Hajela and Chinski scored 66.706.

China came in second with a score of 204.882, much behind India’s final total of 209.205. Hriday earned 69.941 and Divyakriti scored 68.176, but Anush Agarwalla stole the show with a score of 71.088. Their combined score left all other teams trailing far behind.

China and Japan, two of the clear favorites to win this, were defeated by them.
