Asian Games: Sift Samra bags gold, Ashi gets bronze in women’s 50m rifle 3P

Hangzhou, Sept 27: Sift Kaur Samra of India won the gold medal and Ashi Chouksey took home the bronze in the women’s 50 m rifle 3P individual final on Wednesday at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, giving India a double podium finish.

Sift not only topped the charts to win gold but also broke the world record, Asian record and Asian Games record with a score of 469.6 points. The Asian Games record was formerly held by Mongolia, the world record by China, and the Asian record by Great Britain.

Qiongyue Zhang of China won the silver medal with 462.3 points, and Ashi took home the bronze with 451.9 points.

With this, India has earned its fifth overall gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou and its ninth medal in shooting at the competition thus far.
