Prayagraj, April 16: The magistrate reviewing the case of Atiq Ahmad and his brother’s killing has sent all three assailants to 14 days of judicial custody. So, the police have got the remand of 14 days of all three killers in which each and every possible angle will be probed.
Earlier, a high-level investigation into the killings of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf in Prayagraj was ordered by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday.
Special DG, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar had said, “The chief minister has constituted a three-member judicial commission to probe the killing of Ahmad and Ashraf”.
The three assailants, who were arrested after shooting dead gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj, were presented before the magistrate today.
All three attackers were apprehended at the scene after they voluntarily turned themselves in. They were kept in the custody of the police and questioned.
As per the law, any criminal caught in this manner has to be presented before the remand magistrate within 24 hours.
