Prayagraj, March 28: Mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed was found guilty in the kidnapping of Umesh Pal on Tuesday by the Prayagraj MP-MLA Court in Uttar Pradesh. Ashraf, Atiq’s brother, was also found guilty in the case by the court. The argument in the court is underway.

A short while ago, the suspects in the case were brought before the court under heavy security. During a more than 24-hour-long travel from Gujarat, Atiq Ahmed, a five-time MLA and an accused in the case, was transported from Gujarat’s Sabarmati Prison to Prayagraj’s Naini jail on Monday.

Raju Pal, a BSP Legislator, was killed in 2005, and Ahmed is one of the suspects. A key witness in the Raju Pal murder case, Umesh Pal, was fatally murdered on February 24 in Prayagraj.
