Ayodhya: Acting on the recommendations of the Special Investigation Team probing the Ram Temple donation theft case, FIRs are set to be filed against six people associated with the temple management. The SIT has submitted its preliminary inquiry report to the government, which has also indicated readiness to appoint a Trust CEO as part of the recommended measures.
Major Lapses in Collection and Management of Offerings
The SIT has recorded statements of approximately 150 sevaks and employees connected to the temple. The investigation has revealed serious flaws in the process of collecting, counting, and managing donations. It has also emerged that the financial status of several sevaks improved dramatically after the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in January 2024.
AAP MP and VHP Both Demand Action
AAP MP Sanjay Singh has submitted evidence to the SIT alleging irregularities in land purchases made by the Trust. Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Alok Kumar called the incident unfortunate and stated that no one needs to defend the Trust, describing it as a serious lapse. He said some individuals were given too much leeway, allowing the theft to continue for a long time, and demanded that police file an FIR without any pressure or bias. He also called for the matter to be referred to a fast-track court.
