Ranchi, Dec 26: In a fresh Twitter attack former chief minister and BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi again targeted the Hemant Soren government for failure in providing security to women of Jharkhand.
This time he mentioned the incident of gang rape in the Lohardaga district, which is hardly 60 km from the Jharkhand capital and famous for Bauxite mines.
The incident took place on Saturday evening when a group of seven youths raped in turn with a woman after assaulting her fiancé at Kolsimri under the Kudu police station area. The group of rapists reached her when she was sitting in a crop field. The woman reported the incident to the police with the help of her family members after she returned.
Taking serious note of the incident Marandi tweeted, “A gruesome incident of gang rape with a girl has taken place in Lohardaga. Crime against women in Jharkhand is not getting stopped. It seems that the fear of the law has ended in the minds of the criminals. Criminals are roaming freely and the head of the state is roaming around in a tizzy.”

When contacted, Lohardaga Superintendent of Police R Ramkumar said, “The matter is under investigation. Culprits are yet to be arrested.”
The attack came when the BJP during the recently concluded winter session of the Jharkhand Assembly raised the issue of women’s security in the state after a headless body of a Paharia woman cut into 40 pieces was recovered in Sahibganj and police arrested 10 including her husband Dildar Ansari in this connection.
Earlier the party raised the issue when a girl was set on fire in Dumka for not being accepted to marry a youth of another religion.
