Ranchi, Feb.4: BJP legislature party chief and former chief minister Babulal Marandi has demanded a CBI probe and FIR against those involved in the security of collieries in BCCL Dhanbad.

He justified his demand saying that without this it is difficult to put a check on illegal mining that claims the lives of common people and in a recent incident six people died after water roof of mines caved in in Nirsa area of BCCL.

“Those expected to stop illegal mining collect Rs 50 per pickaxe, Rs 35 per coal collector and Rs 80 per bag of coal to allow illegal mining. I got the information during my visit in the colliery area after the accident,” Marandi said at a press conference here.

“Once the security personnel are booked and arrested they will disclose the organised plunder of coal in Dhanbad and something can be expected in the direction of putting a check in illegal mining,” Marandi said.

Asked whether why not the ACB be roped in for the job, Marandi said: “ ACB probe can be hardly of any use as people told me that when someone is handed over to police in connection with illegal mining no action is taken against him and the district administration also wants his release.”
