Jamshedpur, Aug 31: The Sakchi-based branch of South Indian Bank caught fire this afternoon due to a suspected short circuit.
It was around 2 pm when the security guard deployed at the bank located at Kalimati Road noticed the fire. He soon informed the bank authorities. All the bank staff and officials ran helter-skelter abandoning their workplace.
Soon two fire brigades each from Tata Steel and the government fire service rushed to the spot for dousing the fire. It took over two hours to control the fire.
Bank officials informed that important documents and files were gutted apart from s few computer peripherals. ” We are yet to ascertain the loss caused by the fire. An investigation has also begun to know the exact cause of fire, ” said an official.
