Ranchi, April 27: Two residents of Barkagaon in Hazaribagh, Mantu Soni and Anirudh Kumar, on Wednesday knocked the door of the Jharkhand High Court through a PIL informing the illegal disbursement of around Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 crore land compensation amount. They requested a proper probe into it to ensure proper action against erring officials.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had earlier probed the matter and submitted its report in 2017 to the land and revenue department. The officials based on the report had asked authorities of NTPC and DC Hazaribagh to take necessary action against the erring officials but so far no action has been taken into the matter.
So, the petitioners through the petition have urged the high court to direct the land and revenue department to produce that report before the high court and give direction to authorities to take action against the erring officials based on that report.
They have also urged the court to hand over the matter to CBI as due to the involvement of senior officials, neither SIT report is being made public nor any action is being taken based on that report.
Soni confirmed the development and suggested talking further into the matter with his lawyer, Abhishek Krishna Gupta.
On contacting Gupta, he said, “The land was acquired for NTPC projects. Thus NTPC’s amount is involved. Those expected to be involved in the scam are not only NTPC officials but state government officials. The amount which should have come in the account of the state government went in the account of fake persons with the connivance of senior Jharkhand government and NTPC officials.”
