Dhanbad, Oct 31: A delegation of the Need-based lecturers deployed in the constituent colleges of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) met Vice-Chancellor Dr PK Poddar today and demanded classes as per the UGC guidelines.
The delegation under Dr Himanshu Shukla informed VC Dr Poddar that as per UGC guidelines, the Need-Based Lecturers should be given a minimum of 16 classes in a week but in BBMKU constituent colleges they are being given a maximum of four classes only in a week.
Even the Higher and Technical Education department of the state government has, in its letter, directed to give 16 classes in a week. However, the BBMKU administration has fixed four classes only.
“The Vice-Chancellor listened to our demand and called on Thursday to decide after studying the file,” said Dr Himanshu Shukla, general secretary of BBMKU Contractual Teachers Association. Dr Binod Ekka and Dr Niraj Dubey were the other members of the delegation.
Need-Based lecturers of the BBMKU alleged that the UGC has fixed a minimum of Rs 57,700 honorarium for them but the college administration on technical grounds does not pay the same amount.
