Outgoing general secretary of BBMKUTA Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary and Dr BN Singh have announced a seven-member election committee under retired Prof Dr SKL Das (former HoD economics cum dean of social science) as chief election officer to conduct the election.

The first election of BBMKU TA was held in 2018 and it became due in 2021. Dr BN Singh and Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary said that due to COVID-19 and the involvement of teachers in regularizing classes as well as examinations of the university it (election) could not be held in time.
Chief election officer Dr SKL Das said that after getting an electoral list of Dhanbad and Bokaro-based constituent colleges, the election committee would hold the first meeting and decide the date of the poll and other decisions.
Teachers Association poll coordinator Dr KM Singh, when contacted, said that all the constituent colleges have been asked to provide an electoral list of their institutions by October 1.
“After getting the list of electoral from colleges we would hold a meeting to decide the process of election, voting and counting dates,” said Dr KM Singh. However, the coordinator said that a decision is yet to be taken on who would (delegates or officer bearers) vote in the election.
“Delegates (one delegate on five teachers) had voted in the 2018 elections. This time a suggestion is also coming out from a section to allow all office bearers of the college teachers’ body to vote. But all decisions would be taken at the meeting,” he said.
