Dhanbad, Oct 2: The teachers’ bodies of Binod Bihari Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad accorded a warm farewell to the Dean of Students Welfare (DSW) Dr SK Sinha at a function in the university academic block who retired on September 30 after serving more than 42 years to the university.

Dr SK Sinha is among the selected senior professors who have the distinction of serving three universities of the state, namely, Ranchi University, Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribagh and BBMKU Dhanbad.

Post Graduate Teachers Association (PGTA) president Dr Bhagwan Pathak (HoD Hindi) and general secretary Dr DK Singh, on the occasion, highly appreciated the contribution of  Dr Sinha and said that the university must take service of his administrative and academic experience for the development of  BBMKU.

BBMKU Teachers Association general secretary Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary, spokespersons Dr Jitendra Aryan, postgraduate English HoD Dr KM Singh, Dr K Bandopadhyay, Dr Rajesh Kumar,  Dr Amita Verma, Dr Pushpa Kumari, Dr Rita Sharma (philosophy), Dr Leelawati Kumari, Dr DK Giri, Dr Umesh Kumar, Dr Amulya Suman Beig, Dr Mukund Ravi Das (Hindi department) also recalled the contribution of  Dr Sinha as a senior teacher, Dean of Social Science and Dean of Students Welfare. While addressing function all of them wished a prosperous post-retirement life to Dr Sinha.

Dr Sinha joined RS More College Govindpur in 1981 and later he was transferred to  PK Roy Memorial College Dhanbad. When in 2017 BBMKU became a separate university Dr Sinha was made the Head of the Department of Zoology in the postgraduate department.

Having seen his seniority, dedication and experience, the first regular vice-chancellor (VC) of BBMKU Dr Anjani Kumar Srivastava made him the Dean of Science in 2018.

Dr Sinha was considered a man of principle who never compromised his dignity for the post. In 2019, he resigned as the Dean of Science over a controversy over the admission of students. A senior official of the university said that Dr Sinha allowed the admission of some students to vacant seats in the commerce department on the recommendation of Prof. Ajit Kumar.

Some teachers of the university made it an issue and reportedly VC Dr Srivastava also opposed his decision. Dr Sinha resigned duly. In his support, the then registrar of BBM KU Dr SKL Das, who had recommended the admission, also resigned. Sources said the then-Pro-VC AK Mahto had also supported Dr Sinha.
