Dhanbad, July 14: Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad has frozen the financial and administrative powers of SSLNT Women’s College principal Dr Sharmila Rani with immediate effect who refused to obey the transfer order of Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Sukhdeo Bhoi.

BBMKU registrar Dr Kaushal Kumar in this regard on late evening on Thursday issued a letter to principal Dr Sharmila Rani advising her to refrain from taking any policy or financial decision till further order.

The university has issued a letter to SSLNT Women’s College principal after she refused to give charge and take the new responsibility.

The Vice-Chancellor had on July 6 reshuffled principals of four colleges of the university.  Dr Sharmila Rani was transferred to BSK College Maithon. Coordinator of College Development Council (CCDC) Dr Ashok Kumar Maji was given additional charge of SSLNT Women’s College principal. Two others, Dr Sarita Srivastava and Dr Kavita Singh, were appointed principals of Degree College Bermo and PK Roy Memorial College Dhanbad respectively. Both principals took over the charge.

But despite the V-C’s notification, SSLNT Women’s College principal Dr Sharmila Rani neither joined her new assignment at BSK College Maithon nor handed over the charge to Dr Ashok Kumar Maji. According to a University official, Dr Sharmila Rani said that she would hand over the charge after getting a directive from Governor’s office.

The Registrar did not receive a call to clarify whether the Governor’s office has sent any direction regarding the transfer stay of Dr Sharmila Rani. Sources said she claims to have got verbal order from the Governor’s secretariat.

The University has taken serious note of her defiance. “You have been transferred to BSK College Maithon. But in a letter to the university you have claimed that an officer of the ‘Governor’ office has given you verbal order to stay but have not named the name of the officer. You have undermined the authority of the university by using the name of the Governor’s Secretariat.  The transfer has been done for the smooth functioning of the college in particular and the university in general. You must follow the orders of the Vice-Chancellor. If you are aggrieved you can make representation at the appropriate forum. But you have chosen to put the office of V-C in poor light,” said the registrar Dr Kaushal Kumar in his letter to SSLNT Women’s College principal.
