Dhanbad, June 10: The conspiracy of the alleged allegation, that a student was denied entry to the examination hall for smearing ‘Tilak’ on his forehead by a teacher at PK Roy Memorial College of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU), was hatched in Europe.
As per the allegation, the incident took place on June 4 and teachers launched a social media campaign in support of the student on June 8.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Mukul Narayan Dev took suo-moto cognizance of the social media campaign and announced on Thursday to set up the committee to probe. He is likely to set up a committee tomorrow (Saturday).
Meanwhile, a senior teacher of BBMKU today alleged that the outgoing Dean of Humanity Dr Seema Sinha picked up the post of the student from Facebook and shared it in the WhatsApp group of the BBMKU Teachers Association which triggered the controversy. Neither any student nor the university authority had noticed the Facebook post of the student earlier.
“Dr Seema Sinha, who is presently on Europe tour, not only put up the Facebook post in BBMKU Teachers Association WhatsApp group but also insisted the teachers’ body to condemn the alleged incident on basis of student’s allegation without taking clarification of the accused teacher,” said the senior teacher of university.
Notably, the tenure of Dr Seema Sinha as Dean of Humanity was completed in January this year.
When lagatar24.com tried to take a comment from Dr Seema Sinha on phone on the allegation of the senior teacher, she was not available.
The accused teacher Dr Mukund Ravidas said he would not comment on this issue as university authorities have taken cognizance of the allegation and whatever they would give order and direction he follows.
“I don’t know with what aim the allegation was raised on social media after four days of examination is beyond my comprehension,” said Dr Ravidas.
However, he appealed to the teacher’s body to help in bringing the truth of the allegation as this controversy would tarnish the secular image of teachers who are highly respected in society.
BBMKU Teachers’ Association has also issued its comment saying that the association has been of the firm view that there cannot be a better way than to have a thorough investigation into the unfortunate alleged incident. It is a matter of great satisfaction that the university has announced to set up a committee soon to look into the allegation. Association is hopeful that the teachers’ fraternity would exercise restraints so that matter does not get flared up further.
Notably, even after one week of the alleged incident, till June 10, neither the victim student and his family members nor Dr Seema Sinha who allegedly shared the post on the WhatsApp group of the teachers’ body lodged a complaint to the university authority.
