Dhanbad, Aug 31: The Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad is all set to begin the 200-hour online course on ‘Cyber Engineering Skill Building’ from tomorrow (September 1).

All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) Delhi has approved and designed the course and made Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation (CVF) Haryana as the nodal agency to complete curricula in BBMKU.

It is noteworthy that a cybercrime protection course is in pipeline for Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribagh, IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) and BIT Sindri also but BBMKU has launched the course first in the wake of increasing crime and the urgency of the curricula.

“Since it is a dream project of VC Prof Sukhdev Bhoi, enrollment and classes of the course have been made free of cost for all students. After completion of the course, the students would be given a diploma certificate,” said Prof Indrajit Kumar, the monitor of this ambitious course.

Notably, VBU Hazaribagh, which is set to launch the course in the current academic session, has fixed Rs 80,000 fee for the one-year course.

Prof Kumar said that cybercrime has emerged as a major challenge. The V-C has stressed on launching this course in the interest of students for awareness of cybercrime and how to protect themselves and others from it.

He further said that the course has been opened for all UG and PG students. Around 200 students from the university, PK Roy Memorial College, RS More College Govindpur, SSLNT Women’s College, students of computer science have enrolled in the new course.

“Since it is an online course, students must have a computer, laptop and other facilities to attend the class,” said Prof Indrajit Kumar.

University officials said that Prof BK Sinha, principal of PK Roy Memorial College, has been made the nodal officer of the vice-chancellor’s ambitious dream project ( cyber engineering skill protection course) to provide all information regarding curricula.

Prof Kumar further added that in the near future, the university would mull over launching an advanced diploma in cyber security course.
