New Delhi, April 11: The BCCI Apex Council will consider the report of the investigative committee into India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who had accused journalist Boria Majumdar of threatening him.
To investigate Saha’s allegations, the BCCI created a three-person team consisting of vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia. Last month, the 37-year-old India reject, as well as the accused journalist Majumdar, stood before the Committee and offered their different accounts. Majumdar allegedly threatened Saha for refusing to give him an interview.
Majumdar alleged that Saha “doctored” the whatsapp screenshots of his discussions with him before posting them on social media, igniting a firestorm of outrage.
On February 23, Saha, a centrally contracted player, wrote a series of tweets against an anonymous writer, who happened to be Majumdar. In South Africa, Saha was informed by head coach Rahul Dravid that he was no longer a part of the team’s plans, and this secret information was released by the batsman himself.
Since his debut in 2010, Saha has appeared in 40 Tests and has spent the last few years as the team’s backup wicketkeeper, with Rishabh Pant ascending to become the first choice in all situations.
At the Apex Council meeting, BCCI is anticipated to conclude the subject.
